About Riverweb

Riverweb(sm) Internet Commerce was founded in 1996, and is located in Pennsylvania’s Central Susquehanna Valley. Riverweb owns and operates an independent server co-located at a high-capacity hosting farm near the New York City Internet backbone hub. This guarantees fast delivery of your content to Internet browsers. Riverweb supports most modern browser components, custom database design, secure transactions, and more! Riverweb design services include photo scanning and editing, and custom graphics to enhance your site’s appearance.

What we do

Because of Riverweb’s “small business, home-town” philosophy, we like consider each job individually before quoting a price for advanced design jobs. We also have a special, low-cost package for those who just want a basic web site. Our range of available services covers almost any business need, ranging from hosting your web to complete custom design of both electronic and print advertising and promotion. We welcome inquiries from any small business interested in getting on the Internet.

If you have a product you believe will sell on the Internet, we can help you do it with iVend, the electronic commerce module for Roxen Challenger. We also offer Internet consulting on a limited basis to small businesses interested in operating their own Roxen Platform server. For more information on these services, contact us using our contact form.

Our focus is the Internet, but promoting your business is our goal. Our full range of available design services includes professional documents such as advertising flyers, brochures, pamphlets and catalogs. We design logos, specialty documents such as restaurant table tents and menus, posters of all sizes, and we can have your design printed on clothing, mugs, caps and other promotional vehicles — all in full digital color. We can assist you in placement of Internet and traditional advertising to increase your site’s traffic.

Who we are

Jeff Fishbein has more than 15 years online experience, and a decade of Internet experience. His career in radio and newspapers enhanced the desktop publishing skills he developed while serving in the military in the early to mid-1980s. Computers were both his hobby and a part of his job, working with numerous desktop and mainframe systems in the broadcast, print and banking industries through the early 1990s. His graphics experience in the newspaper industry turned into a career designing small-business advertising and other professional documents in 1992. He began coding HTML in 1994, the year the World Wide Web became mainstream, having learned an SGML-based macro language at a previous newspaper job. He has taught courses in computer applications and the Internet in an adjunct capacity at a local college.

Bill Welliver is a graduate of Susquehanna University now working for Harris Semiconductor. While in college, he developed a Gopher system and later a Web Site for the school’s library. He also did the initial web development for The Daily Item newspaper in Sunbury, Pa. He has been the key force behind the development of Riverweb’s custom features, including database programming and secure transaction processing, and is the author of numerous modules and scripts for Roxen Challenger.

Technical Information

Riverweb is operated on the Roxen Challenger server, running on Linux, a Unix variant. Unix is the operating system the entire Internet was built on and designed for.

We chose the Roxen Challenger as our web server because of its unique programmability. Through customized modules, we can easily support the most advanced form requirements, Javascript-driven menus, presentation slide shows and more. Since our server is under our direct control, we can work quickly to get your site online and keep it up to date. Plus, a high-speed local connection gives us easy access for maintenance when problems do occur. By choosing these tools, we can provide the highest level of compatibility and reliability.

Linux is recognized as one of the most stable operating environments available, and recently has earned the accolades of the trade press for its reliability and security in the Internet arena.
