Web Site Worksheet
Whether youre designing your own web site or having us create it, we
work better as a team. Riverweb brings the Internet expertise needed to adapt
your business to an online environment.
Purpose
Why do you want to put your business online? The answer to that is less
obvious than it seems. Are you trying to build your customer base through
referrals, or sell online directly? Perhaps youre not planning to sell
anything the Internet is an excellent business-to-business tool as well
as business-to-consumer.
Site Outline
The easiest way to start is with a simple report-style outline or flow chart
to determine the pathways visitors will follow through your site. Think of it
like departments in business office. Youll want a way to tell customers
where youre located and offer them a way to contact you, and its a
good idea to include basic information about your company (especially if your
company is publicly traded). Is all of your customer service under one
umbrella, or do you separate pre-sales, customer satisfaction and product
support?
Imagery
One of the reasons the Internet has exploded as a communications medium is
the ability to deliver graphically rich content to a wide audience at a
fraction of the cost of traditional media. If you already have photos, they
need to be scanned. New photos can be taken with a digital camera or processed
from film to disk or CD. Images can be static, animated or presented in a slide
show. If you must use video, we strongly suggest a compact format such as
RealMedia or MPEG.

Layout and design
The purpose of the site and the depth of information you make available will
define the layout to some extent. You must still choose the look and
feel of your pages, color scheme (usually your company colors, if any),
navigation system and other general features. Then, you need to choose a
presentation scheme for the content, so that features are consistent
site-wide.
